Government shutdown is a “walk in the park” for some D.C. area residents

Adam Van Grack returns from kayaking in the Potomac River at the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park in Potomac, Md., a suburb of Washington, on January 22, 2018. National parks remained partially open during a government shutdown. This decision by the Trump administration was likely an attempt to avoid the outrage created by the complete closure of national parks during the 2013 shutdown.
